Tila Tiquila Takes Credit for Gay Marriage Becoming Legal

June 20, 2008 by Lynn

Chalk this one up in the “Ego Out of Control” column!!

MTV’s reality star, Tila Tiquila claims that the reason Clifornia made gay marriage legal was because of her show. Because she claims to be bi-sexual, her show has both men and women vying for her affections. That’s all very well and good, but what does that have to do with legislation? In my opinion, nothing at all. It’s a trashy show and if anything it could have hurt the chances of the law being passed.

Dan Abrams, who tells about this claim agrees with me. He reminds us that there have been gay activists for many years working toward this goal and it was their efforts that finally proved successful. (And my Congratulations on that!!) Check out the clip:

Mary Carey Running for CA State Assembly

June 20, 2008 by Lynn

Mary CareyMary Carey, former porn star and veteran of Celebrity Rehab has decided to run for public office once again. She will be on the ballot in California for the November 4 election and she’s running for California State Assembly in District 43 (as Mary “Carey” Cook).

She issued a public statement about her decision and I won’t even attempt to paraphrase:

“I have always loved politics and know that the State Assembly would be a better position to begin my career in politics. I want to energize people into caring about local politics again – much like we’ve seen in the national primaries. But unlike one of the presidential primary contenders, I’m actually a politician you’d want to get screwed by!”

She hasn’t proved to me that she’s a good choice for the office, what about you?

Amy Winehouse is Very Sick!

June 20, 2008 by Lynn

According to reports, British singer Amy Winehouse has been quite ill for some time but has refused to seek treatment. Now, she has been hospitalized and the word is that she has tuberculosis. YIKES!! She had to have been miserable for quite a while!

Reports say that one of the hurdles of her treatment is weaning her from her regular drug regimen….

I wish you a speedy recovery, Amy!

I Love Money: Moved Up One Week and Premiere Video Previews

June 20, 2008 by Jonathan

VH1 has moved the premiere for the new show I Love Money. Originally scheduled for July 13, the series will now begin Sunday July 6. Apparently, they know that the fans just can’t wait. Maybe everything is falling into place a little faster than usual. Such are the simple pleasures of creating a reality show.

To get you in the mood, here is a preview of the very first challenge. This first clip shows the cast having to take their bags and jump from a boat to the beach. (Remember on I Love New York that Midget Mac is terrified of the water…?)

And, of course, with this cast of greedy folks, they don’t waste any time forming their new alliances. Check it out:

Let’s Celebrate the New Millenium!

June 20, 2008 by Lynn

newmillennium_sm.jpgYeah, it’s a little late, but it’s fun to look back and see the humor in things. In its new show I Love the Millenium, VH1 is looking back at what has been the past eight years. So many things have changed and happened, it should be a fun show. Here’s a bit from the new series’ press release:

Just when you thought there were no more decades left to love, VH1 is back at it with an all-new 8-part series “I Love The New Millennium.” From “Thong Songs” and Big Fat Greek Weddings, to wardrobe malfunctions and the “Big Mouth Billy Bass,” it’s all here, and our expert team of celebrities, musicians, actors, athletes, journalists and comedians are back to tackle every hard hitting issue you can imagine. For example: Where were all those weapons of mass destruction anyway? How did people watch television before TIVO? Who decided that trucker hats weren’t just for truckers anymore? And perhaps most importantly of all… who let the dogs out?

Rihanna Sings on the Today Show

June 20, 2008 by Lynn

Lovely Rihanna was today’s performer live on the Today Show Plaza. She showed up wearing a dress with a tutu and a conductor’s hat. But she could wear a burlap sack and make it look like high fashion!

Here’s a video clip of her singing her smash hit song, Umbrella:
