The Pick Up Artist: Kosmo Wins!
Last night the season finale of The Pickup Artist Aired. While the show did some things that were obviously just for ratings (having the guys watch a lingerie show, etc.) there actually was some redeeming value to what Mystery was teaching.
The main thing he teaches is for the men to value themselves and have confidence. I totally agree with this one, since there’s nothing more attractive than confidence. Then, he taught them some conversation techniques to use confidently and the guys were finally able to approach and talk to women.
But, as a woman, I’d say that many of the techniques could also apply for us. It’s best not to act desperate or needy, it’s good to be self-confident and being a great conversationalist is a real asset. In addition, Mystery taught the guys some basics about body language and communication. If you boil the show down to the basics, it really was a nice primer for learning social skills.
Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s disrespectful to anyone to simply try to manipulate them for one’s own advantage3, but with the right intentions, Mystery had some good things to teach.
That being said, the group of socially inept students were transformed, little by little over the season and Kosmo was the one chose to be the next Pick-Up Artist. I’m not sure what the title entails, exactly, but let’s hope that Kosmo has more social skills than when he started the lessons.
In spite of being skeptical about the show, I enjoyed it. I’m sure there are people out there who might actually be able to benefit from the lessons Mystery offered. I thought it was awesome. Mystery was totally creepy and dressed like a douchebag, but I thought he had some good lessons for those poor nerds.

kosmo is hot i thought so from the beginning…i thought it was a joke he was acting like he couldnt pick up women but it did seem real as i watched it. the concept and just putting the show on the air was brilliant…kudos to vh1. there are people out there that seriously need this. kosmo if you’re ever in jersey give me a call!

I would assume you all know that most of these “contestants” were all actors, comedians, models before being on the show? Doesn’t sound to me like they were very nerdy or needy at all.

I just couldn’t see why Kosmo was in need of Mystery’s lessons ! he too handsome and sexy !! He is simply Irresistible !! Woaw !
