The Pick Up Artist Will Create Master Pick-Up Artists Out of Total Geeks

One of VH1’s latest summer reality offerings, The Pickup Artist, premiered recently and it’s definitely different. It seems like a strange combination of Charm School and Beauty & the Geek. There’s this guy that calls himself “Mystery” and he claims to have nearly superhuman powers when it comes to picking up women.
Enter the students. There’s a group of geeky men who seem to have no ability at all for talking to women, let alone getting them to go out. That’s what Mystery plans to correct. He promises the guys that he will teach them to become Pickup Artists too. Here are some highlights from the first episode:
And here’s Mystery meeting his new subjects:
The guys start by being observed crashing and burning in the club while trying to meet women. Mystery and his sidekicks observe, then go in to show the guys how it’s done. The guys are in awe of them and hope to learn all that they know. I guess that remains to be seen.
I still haven’t made up my mind about whether I agree with the idea of this show yet or not. As long as the guys are not taught to treat women as objects, it will be ok. But I’m not going to be happy if it’s a show focusing on how to manipulate women….

The Pick Up Artist is interesting enough of a concept however, Mystery as a modern day Don Juan…I don’t know? Something about a man wearing ski goggles and a ski hat to a bar…doesn’t intrique me nor does his furry hat…BUT I do like the idea of watching and rooting for the underdogs as they are transformed by the all powerful Mystery! I’ll be watching!

I was wondering when you are going to have a ‘female’ version of the pick-up artists? One where the women don’t go through make-overs (ie plastic surgery) and are having the same difficulties you show the males having. Or how about a ‘beauty and the geek’ version where the women are the geeks? I would be greatly interested in being on one of these shows.

I agree with celest, I would be interested in a show where beautiful men and geeky women. I also would be intersted in a female version o the pick-up artist. Whoever makes these shows will win over the female audience for sure.

you guys are so stupid. Beautiful men and geeky women? Women don’t need that show unless you’re a pathetic woman who thinks she’s a geek. In that case, you’ve got bigger problems

kris your are a jerk and one of the reasons that women need shows like i suggested. you put down ppl because they are not like what you think they should be and when they try to pick themselves up and do better, gain a little confidence you put them down and wonder why they have no self esteem and need help to build it. i mean a key example would be the fact the you started off your comment by putting us, the ppl who are trying to better themselves, down. what is up with that. from what i just read you seem to be the pathetic one. you feel you have to shoot someone else’s dream/ goals down to make yourself feel beter/ cool/ more of a man. well guess what your not. and if they do make a show as i have suggested i hope they teach the women how to spot posers like you. i already have my issues with me i do not need some 40 yr old virgin who sits at home getting off on being negitive to females that they will never have a chance to touch in real life cause blow up dolls don’t count teling me something about myself. so unless the next time you write you have something more posotive and helpful to say i suggest YOU BACK OFF!!!

The whole point of learning to pick up women, is to give them a chance to get to know you. A chance for women to get out of their own way because of outdated, or non-existent morals. Game is about a first impression, after that, it’s on the individual. On a personal note, Game is a chance to even the odds, and give guys a Fair advantage.

I think these topics are so one-sided. They always make it seem like girls have it so easy when it’s simply not the case. Doc here thinks that women are outdated or have non-existent morals? Talk about close-minded.
It’s not easy for women to “pick up” men because rules haven’t been invented for us yet. Only recently have women started to do this, while men have had hundreds and hundreds of years (and they still can’t get it right). I’d love to see a show where normal women get beautiful men… but then again, men are too shallow of a kind to even allow shows like this to be available.
I’d still like to see it, though.
