Charm School is Now in Session
I have to say that I really enjoy this new show. Mo’Nique sure has her work cut out for her. These are some women who really need to make some big changes in their lives.

The first thing that Mo’Nique did when the girls arrived, she told them that there were seven bathrooms in the house and that no one should have to poop on the floor. I nearly died laughing at that! ;-)
They all went in to find their beds and were very upset to find that they all had assigned beds, mostly next to the people they hated. (I’m sure that was done on purpose…)
Then they called them all together to meet the judges, or as Mo’Nique called them, the Deans of Charm School. They are Nikki Taylor, Beauty Director and Cover Editor for Essence Magazine,

and Keith Lewis, Director of Miss California USA and Miss California Teen USA as well as the owner of a talent agency. He told the girls that based on their casting videos, none of them would be allowed fifty feet from his agency. (Woo…that’s harsh!)

Then Mo’Nique told them that the disrespectful nicknames would have to go. They would all go by their real first names for the rest of the time. (Thank goodness! How could they become refined women with those names?)
Here is the list of their real names and their nicknames so we can learn who is who:
- Thela - “Rain”
- Larissa - “Bootz”
- Shay - “Buckeey”
- Schatar - “Hottie”
- Darra - “Like Dat”
- Brooke - “Pumkin”
- Leilene - “Smiley”
- Heather - “Krazy”
- Courtney - “Goldie”
- Jennifer - “Toasteee”
- Cristal - “Serious”
- Becky - “Buckwild”
- Saaphyri - “Saaphyri” (she never got a nickname)
The really creepy part of the renaming process was when Hottie, oops, I mean Schatar, stepped up to Mo’Nique. She actually pulled a red apple out of her cleavage and handed it to Mo’Nique! Who would eat that? Yuck!

Next, Mo’Nique told them that they would have to learn the 10 Commandments of Charm School while they were there and here’s the first one:

The next morning, they were told that they should pack what they would need for an overnight trip to the outdoors. Schatar was just sure that they were going to a spa somewhere. She found out pretty fast that there was no spa where they were going.

When they got to the middle of nowhere, they were told their next Commandment:

From there, they would have to take all the supplies and equipment they would need for an overnight camping stay in the park. And to get to the campsite, they would have to drag and carry everything up a hill for two miles.
There was more drama at the camp site and Thela almost had a meltdown because the can opener broke and no one would listen to her to look for another one. She didn’t know how to handle things since she wasn’t allowed to yell. But as my Grandpa always said, “You can’t drive the car by honking the horn.” In other words, yelling gets you nothing. People tend to ignore it.
Nikki Taylor showed up that evening to tell them to choose two team captains for the contest the next day. They chose Leilene and Saaphyri.
Early in the morning, a drill sergeant woke them up and told them to get dressed because they were going to have a contest. He took them to a military-looking obstacle course. Things got ugly.

The teams were picked and they started the event.
Leilene’s team was the weaker team because she chose the weak and injured team members. Darra got to the rope wall and needed help to get over…nice thong, girl!

They were the purple team and their time was 9:09.
Saaphyri’s team really hit the course did a lot better. The funny thing was that Becky said that when she got into the mud up to her knees, she knew it was on. Her combat boots filled up with water and she weighed as much as Hottie’s weave. :-)
They really did great and won with a time of 6:51. That meant that one of the purple team members would have to go home that night.
When they got back to the house, they found out that they now had to wear school-girl uniforms. They hated it, even though they did look better.
Thela went to Mo’Nique’s office to talk to her one-on-one. But she acted like a goof-ball and Mo’Nique thought she was high. Her strategy backfired. She damaged her chances to stay instead of helping them.
The girls were called to the hall for elimination and three were called to the carpet. They were Leilene, Darra and Thela.

They told Leilene that she was weak and was comfortable being a loser because she chose people by friendship, not by strength.
Darra was told that she used her anger instead of her determination.
Thela was called out about the fact that she kept telling everyone that she had a torn Achilles tendon so she couldn’t do things. Then when she ran the course, she didn’t have problems with it at all. They knew she had been lying.
Thela was expelled because she couldn’t control her anger and Mo’Nique said that it was dangerous. It’s sad, because she probably could have benefited from the whole experience and now she can’t.
So who do you think should have gone home? Did they make the right choice? I agree with Thela going home. It’s like she lives in a whole different world and doesn’t see things as they are. It’s a shame she didn’t listen to Mo’Nique more.
Who do you think will make it to the end? Who do you hope goes home next? Leave a comment and let us all know!
