Vh1 Supergroup?

Is Vh1 creating a “hard rock supergroup?”

Check it out:

VH1 IS CREATING A ROCK SUPERGROUP!

While Ozzfest may prosper and Motley Crue shows sell out, the kingdom of hard rock, still waits for a powerful force to regain dominion over the power chords cut by crunk, pop-punk, and indie rock. Fortunately, VH1 has assembled some of the heaviest rock icons, who stand ready to thrash a new trail of carnage and excess and to lead the hard rock world as their new gods of thunder.

VH1´s SUPERGROUP: Ted Nugent, Scott Ian, Sebastian Bach, Evan Seinfeld and Jason Bonham, are poised to re-conquer the rock world (and hopefully spread a little debauchery and black leather in the process) in the ultimate musical experiment. Premiering Thursday May 18 at 10:00 p.m., SUPERGROUP will bring together these five hard rocking icons and present them with the opportunity to create the heaviest SUPERGROUP. Ultimately viewers will see whether or not band will come together as hard rock´s saviors or simply implode.

Over a of period two weeks in Las Vegas, legendary rock manager, Doc McGhee, will shepard the group towards their fate as hard rock heroes. As a respected manager, he automatically commands the respect of the band members and is not afraid to crack the whip. He´s a taskmaster with a two-week deadline that can´t be missed. On day one, Doc will clearly lay out the stakes, goals, and the limited time that the SUPERGROUP truly has to revitalize and rule hard rock.

Their quest will culminate with a massive concert at The Empire Ballroom in Vegas. Yet the question remains, hard rock is ready to be saved but is the SUPERGROUP ready to save hard rock?

SUPERGROUP - VH1´s Hard Rock Reality Show Premieres May 18th

Ted Nugent & Sebastian Bach… Um. I don’t know about saving hard rock, per se. But it should make for some seriously entertaining television.

SEBASTIAN BACH: ‘Sometimes I Gotta Pinch Myself Because I’m So Happy Doing What I’m Doing’ - June 22, 2006

Pat Jess Douglas of the Great Falls Tribune recently conducted an interview with former SKID ROW and current DAMNOCRACY frontman Sebastian Bach. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

On being asked to represent mainstream headbangers in recent times:

"I didn’t ever figure out why I get the things I do, but I am the luckiest guy in rock, For VH1 to treat me the way they do and for Axl Rose to say ‘come and open the [GUNS N' ROSES] tour,’ it’s like what the hell? Really, sometimes I gotta pinch myself because I’m so happy doing what I’m doing."

    On being in the spotlight:

"Back in the late ’80s, they played these things called rock videos. They were like little movie clips … film clips of the songs. Now they don’t make rock videos anymore, really. Now, MTV and VH1 are mostly reality shows. If they change the format, but I’m still on (TV), then I’m down with that. All that means is when I come into your town, you’re gonna come see the show, so I’m definitely fine with that."

On "SuperGroup", a seven-part series that gives Bach and four forced bandmates (Scott Ian, Ted Nugent, Evan Seinfeld and Jason Bonham):

"This show seems to be interested in the personalities of rock and roll. To me the music’s more interesting than that. Maybe people like seeing guys fight … and stuff like that. It is interesting to see the choices that we all make. It’s an interesting insight into what’s important to each one of us.

"If me and Evan get in a fight or I get drunk, or Ted Nugent gets mad at me ’cause I’m too drunk … it’s very interesting to see all of that unfold. The exposure you get on these shows is outrageous. It’s like, we want you to do a reality show, but don’t tell me what my reality is. Don’t say ‘OK, Sebastian, this is your reality.’ I’ll never do that. I know how to sing in a rock band."

"I love the show. People are driving past my house going, ‘SuperGroup!’ It is getting kind of crazy. My life is exploding again, which is fun. But you asked for it, you got it, here it is. Get ready."

On his long-awaited solo album, "Angel Down", due October:

"I’m extremely excited because I’ve been working on this album for five years, at least, which is a long time. Not quite as long as Axl, but it’s still pretty long. It’s really a great time for rock and roll."

    DAMNDEMOS ONLINE NOW
It is more than a little frustrating to watch the show & see little to no footage of the band actually playing music. When I say on the show “well we jammed for 6 or 7 hours today” but they show none of it , it drives me nuts! The whole infamous “fight scene” with Evan & myself actually occured after dinner , late at night , & by the time we got into the mayhem it was 2 or 3 in the morning. When you have a full jam room in the house it is fun to get loose have a few drinks & jam. But all that occured after a full day of playing music stone cold sober ….. which is not on the show! So here are 3 demos that I did on my laptop… extremely low quality & zero production … if we ever cut these tunes, they would probably sound nothing like these demos …. but I figured that if they can show me completely rotted out of my skull on the show, I can share with you these crude but rocking demos that we did while in Vegas. These songs are not done at all. I don’t know if they ever will be. I am not a producer or an engineer. Hopefully we can cut these songs for real someday! I will be posting remixes & more DAMNOCRACY music here so stay tuned.

To “Acekicken” : I still think your Baz’s biggest fan, but I do want to know if he got his drinking under control after the show ended. You seem to know everything else about him, thought you might know this too. (I’m not trying to be a smart-ass, I truely want to know if he’s ok. Seemed like a BIG problem on S.G.) Maybe that was part of the problem on S.G. and why he came off looking so bad.

  4. Mike says:

I hate to say it, but due to my inexplicable habit of watching mindless television I have been watching Supergroup for the last few weeks. I have to say that I do enjoy watching these guys on the show, but, musically, they aren’t making any relevant music. They’re playing covers. So for those of you that think this band is going to do anything after this show is through taping, you’re wrong. Ted Nugent didn’t seem to like anything they did as a band, nor did Bonham. Scott Ian still has a real band that I’m sure he’d rather put his effort towards. Biohazard dude is into his wife’s career, and Bach, well, he’d do anything to stay in the D-list limelight. Face it, this project lasted 12 days and that’s all.

Wow, over 33,000 plays in a day. You people are curious about the music we created. That rules. Maybe they will actually let you hear some next week in the finale. Wouldn’t that be amazing? Music is the reason the 5 of us were asked to be in the house and then that reason gets thrown out the window when it comes to what gets shown. Hmm, what’s more interesting, me eating, or me JAMMING WITH TED NUGENT?????
Anyway, enough ranting for now. It was fun to watch episode 6 with Sebastian and Evan last night. Please come check me out at http://www.myspace.com/scottian

I have to admit, the finale was great!!! I wish they had made a 2 hour special and showed more of the concert. It was alot better than watching “termoil” at the house.

    Hot Flashes
ANTHRAX Guitarist SCOTT IAN Defends SEBASTIAN BACH In The Wake Of Supergroup Episodes
Posted on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 05:43:11

A phone interview with ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian conducted by Cort And Fatboy out of Portland, OR is now online at this location. According to the website, during the 11 minute interview “Scott talks about his chances at the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame, how VH1 tried to stiff him his money, and how tricky they REALLY had to get to make Supergroup look like drama central.”

Towards the end of the interview Ian comments on Supergroup’s portrayal of DAMNOCRACY vocalist Sebastian Bach as a diva: “What you see on the show isn’t really what it was like in the house. You don’t see the other 14 hours of the day where Sebastian isn’t doing what they show him doing. He never acted like that towards me or towards the guys in the band. It was just the way he would react to the stupid things they would throw at him knowing the reaction they were going to get from Sebastian. They’d get 30 seconds of him yelling at somebody and go ‘Okay, now we can create this story around Sebastian The Diva, Sebastian The Bad Guy.’ He’s so not that; they had to create that image. I understand they were doing their job because it was TV show but it’s kind of annoying because he’s getting a bad rap that he really doesn’t deserve.”

  15. Fritz says:

I grew listening to Skid Row but now that we are adults its a shame to see Sebastian Bach still acting like a teenager. His head is just full of air… I am very impressed with Scott Ian who is not a big mouth and very sober in his attitude, also Jason Bonham. On behalf of Nugent, his quite a jerk with a bad ass attitude but i love his music.

  16. Demi says:

Sebastian is the biggest looser!!!!!! The guy thinks he’s 20 and he’s disgusting with those yellow teeth, disgusting body, and nasty hair. He’s just gross!!!! What’s even more disgusting is that he thinks he’s hot!! WHAT A FREAKIN LOOSER!!!!!!

  17. huh says:

This show is great, problem is the music industry p-ssies putting their lame-ass 2cents worth in. Especially that little prissy qu–r and his boring personality-less rail of a girl sidekick.

These musicians made huge it without the over corporatization of their image, sound and souls. Music industry wonders what happened, why it’s so hard to sell music these days???Because they made music a business and therefore it has become what it used to rebel against. duh.

The reason metal has gone back underground has nothing to do with it not being popular and loved, but because they don’t want to play ball with these industry greedmongers who clearly have no idea what it takes to make GREAT music. And great music sells.

You might be able to sell crappy one-hit-wonder hip-hop and boring bubblegum pop to lame-ass boomers and their kids, but the real fans of music are listening to music that you can’t control.

And your loss of control is causing you to blame people who download music instead of realizing that the real problem is you, the INDUSTRY, who feels the need to control what it produces to exploit that for profit from advertising and cross-promotion, “branding is so important “etc.

In other words, the talentless dime-a-dozen PR, marketing, image and business suits - the “bottom feeders” so to speak, know that if the music industry was left in control of the fans and the talent, they would be out of their dream-job. And really, those losers should never have had jobs in the first place. They have nothing to offer.

Key to reviving music sales: GREAT MUSIC. And though your “Joey Fatone” boy bands still sell albums (questionable actually), the only reason why is because the industry pretty much whores out their image and ignores those musicians who are more innovative and talented simply because those musicians don’t want to play ball with the industry suits.

So VH1, next SuperGroup, if you want me to watch, lose the losers and unlease the talent. I don’t want to see any more stale rail women and prissy fussy gays spewing their ideas- which clearly suck.

  18. Acekicken says:

IM waiting on season 2! Did anyone catch the post shows on VH1
Classic? That was even better then watching the guys have dinner & fight with
the PR team, stupid photographers & all the other BS they put in there way.

Looks like Ted is booked into 2008 with all his other
    adventures.

    A new thought, Take Sebastian,Scott,Evan & Jason
put them in a studio to record the music, all the while searching
for stand in Guitarist or replacement. Finish an EP of Music & follow the
    band on a Mini tour.

Quit showing dinner, get rid of Doc & put the band
in a situation of what a band is suppose to do make Music & Rock concerts.

    Suggestion of Guitarist.

Ace Frehley (Kiss) has recorded with Sebastian on many songs
Paul Crook (Meatloaf) formally of Anthrax & Sebastian Bachs band
Wolf Hoffman (Accept) Has recorded with Sebastian
Zack Wylde (BLS/OZZY) Has jammed with Sebastian & Jason

or find a new Ax Slinger from a Contest or Demo/video search.

DAMNOCRACY is a “KILLER” Band in the making
the show would have been better if VH1 would have shown less
    Drama & more Mussic!

  19. Biff says:

This show is hilarious… i think BACH is freekin funny as hell…!!!@#@

but he truly is an awesome singer

  20. celebutard15 says:

show’s just come up to my part of canada. sebastian seems like a good guy. if he had not done this show, i would have forever known him only for “i remember you”, which sucks. scott, you’re cute. come to canada.

  21. kelly Maughan says:

I think seb is still hot as and he might act like he has ADHD but a least he knows whats best for the band and tries hard. Ted Nugent is a PIG this is 2006 not caveman days Have a Little respect and get your head out of your ass TED. Keep going Seb your ok l wish you would come to Australia.

  22. kelly Maughan says:

Go SEB GO, The show is really funny l have only seen 3 episodes, carnt wait to see the rest.

  23. Miss james says:

The last time I saw sebastian was in the eighties, I even drew a pic of him for a school mate that had a massive thing for him, even I thought he was a bit of a dish. Now I’ve just seen him on the show and oh my god he’s a real knob. Seb the dish is now seb the knob, poor fella.

  24. Michelle says:

I love Sebastian. He is one of my favourite singers, I think he just gorgeous and have been loving Supergroup which is on episode three here in New Zealand.

Sebastian has his routines and the publisist never warns him in advance of the days events, she tells him 5 minutes beforehand that he had an interview/ photo shoot, which just goes to show that they are trying to get a reaction from him.

I dont think he is being a diva, in fact I love his over the top reactions. Having the PR people, designers, Managers etc we can all see what bands have to put up with.

Imagine if it was us put on international tv and people could go made putting us down, analysing the way we looked etc, would we get flowing reviews? doubt it…people need to stop hiding behind their computer screens and realise you are talking about a real life person here, what would he think if he was reading these comments?

  25. BEV says:

to the person who is worried if Sebastian’s feelings will be hurt by reading these comments, i have to say…. Who fucking cares? He is lame. Scott Ian is the finest hotty around.! Now that is a Musician!
