VH1’s end of year favs
VH1 praises its’ celeb-reality shows as a big part of their 14% increase in viewership from last year. I know these shows were the reason I’m spending more time dialed into VH1!
VH1 says:
“Hogan Knows Best,” starring Hulk Hogan and his family, debuted as the highest rated series in VH1 history on July and the network’s second highest rated telecast in its 20-year history.
Earning a 1.9 in the 18-49 demo, the series helped fuel a night of premieres that was seen by an overall 10.2 million viewers. Other premieres that night included “The Surreal Life 5,” which averaged a 1.5 in the demo and “Celebrity Fit Club 2, which averaged a 1.4 in the demo.
Looks like “But Can They Sing” didn’t do as well as expected - there was a lot of hype, but it’s not mentioed as a breakout hit like the other shows. Apparently people aren’t interested in a “American Idol” for people who are already famous.
These numbers mean VH1 will likely continue churning out this stuff too - why quit doing what’s working? Good news for me (and my Tivo)!
